Divisions

Colleges and universities are classified into few divisions

 

  • NCAA Division I

Universities that belong to this division have an attendance
that often exceeds 15,000 students. Classes are much larger
than in other types of university. Personal work is preferred.
This type of college offers a wide selection disciplines;
the on-campus activities are diverse and numerous (American
football, fraternities, concerts ...). This is the most competitive
division in sports. The admission requirements are usually
harder then Division 2.

 

  • NCAA Division II

The number of students is between 3000 and 15,000.
The to NCAA Division II championships are fairly tougher than
some Division I. However top Division II can match with Division I.
The university campuses are smaller than first division college
and conditions are more flexible score wise.

 

  • NCAA Division III

Universities that are part of this division can not offer scholarships
to athletes. Nevertheless, these universities are ranked among
the best academicly wise.

 

  • NAIA

This division includes small universities (3,000 students or less). The small number
of students per class allows very good working conditions (A human dimension to education).
The teachers are generally more accessible. The student is not anonymous: it is renowned
for its academic and sporting talents.  NAIA universities offer academic and sports programs which vary beetween excellence in poor: hence the need for a careful and thoughtful choice.
The best university programs NAIA sports have comparable level to that of the NCAA
Division II.

 

  • Junior College

The duration of studies in these universities is only two years. The athlete may integrate
later one of the other 3 divisions: NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NAIA division.
Junior colleges have more flexibility regarding admissions criteria.

 

Scholarships

  • Who decides?
    The scholarships are awarded by universities.
    The team managers and coaches play a central
    role in the decision obtaining a scholarship.

 

  • What sports?
    Sports in which you can get a scholarship:
    - Women: Track, soccer, Volleyball, Rowing, Golf, Ski,
    Basketball, Gymnastics, Softball, Bowling, Hockey,
    Squash, Cross Country, Ice Hockey, Tennis, Riding, Lacrosse, Archery, Fencing,
    Swimming and diving, rifle shooting
    - Men: Track, Football, soccer, Swimming and Diving, Baseball, Golf, Skiing,
    Basketball, Gymnastics, Tennis, Cross Country, Ice Hockey, Shooting rifle,
    Fencing, Lacrosse, Volleyball, Soccer, Wrestling, Water Polo

 

  • What level?
    Regional or national level

 

Coaches

The coach plays a crucial role in the success of your
journey to the United States. Selected first for his
athletic skills, he brings the best of himself for you
to advance throughout your sporting career. It is also
present to listen, advise you and help you.

 

Infrastructure

The facilities are high quality and are the best in the world:

 

  • 6 to 24 outdoor tennis courts

  • 2-8 indoor courts

  • bleachers from 2 000 to 15 000

  • sports halls from 5 000 to 50 000 places

  • football stadiums 30 000 to 100 000 places

  • Weight-room ultra-modern

  • a physiotherapy room

  • an indoor Olympic pool

  • Jacuzzis

  • saunas, etc.
